Research groups 9 research group | Cancer metabolism Lab

Cancer metabolism Lab

The group is focused on the intricate metabolic interplay between cancer and the immune system. Specifically, they investigate the role of mitochondrial function and amino acid metabolism in modulating cancer growth and immune evasion.

The work seeks to elucidate the mechanisms by which cancer cells manipulate mitochondrial metabolism to subvert immune responses. This includes examining how cancer cells compete with immune cells for essential nutrients within the tumor microenvironment, and how they utilize metabolites and signaling molecules to suppress immune cell activity.

The ultimate goal of this research is to identify novel therapeutic strategies that target cancer cell metabolism, thereby disrupting cancer cell energetics and enhancing the immune system’s capacity to recognize and eliminate malignant cells.
