Participation at the 2nd National Congress of the Italian Core Facilities Network
Some of our technicians participated at the 2nd National Congress of the Italian Core Facility Network, where they presented a poster introducing our Center and illustrating its main activities. The event offered an important opportunity to share expertise and connect with colleagues from research infrastructures across Italy.

Inauguration of the New BRL (Biosafety Research Laboratories)
On 14 October 2025, the new BRL – Biosafety Research Laboratories were officially inaugurated. The event was attended by local authorities, who delivered opening remarks, as well as experts in molecular genetics, who offered scientific contributions on topics including strategies for targeting senescent cells, the role of whole-genome sequencing in tuberculosis diagnostics and surveillance, and emerging infectious diseases in a globalized world.

Retirement Celebration for Professor Claudio Maria Santoro
A celebration was held to mark the retirement of Professor Claudio Maria Santoro, the first Director of the CTS CAAD.
The event was an opportunity to acknowledge his leadership and long-standing commitment to the Center, and wish him all the best for the future.

Participation at NANOLAB 2026
Today our technical experts Dr. Valeria Caneparo and Dr. Sara Centonze attended NANOLAB 2026, the first workshop dedicated to the Label-Free Live Imaging community, held at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/nanolab-2026-una-giornata-dedicata-alla-community-del-evjbe?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android&utm_campaign=share_via).
The event brought together researchers and professionals from across Italy to share scientific applications, best practices, and future perspectives in Nanolive holotomographic imaging. It also provided valuable opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and hands-on training with advanced live-cell imaging technologies.

The Center contributes to the FEBO project for the surveillance of emerging arboviruses
Our Center is contributing to the FEBO project (FEBbri Estive nel Piemonte Orientale), a joint initiative led by UPO and the Maggiore della Carità University Hospital in Novara to strengthen the surveillance of emerging arboviral infections in Eastern Piedmont. The project combines clinical surveillance and advanced molecular diagnostics to determine the contribution of arboviruses—including West Nile, Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika, Tick-borne Encephalitis, and Toscana viruses—to unexplained summer fever cases. Samples collected from enrolled patients will be analyzed for viral infections and subsequently stored in the UPO Biobank. Genomic sequencing and metagenomic analyses will be then performed in our laboratories to identify the viruses responsible for infection, characterize circulating viral strains, monitor their evolution, and support the early detection of emerging variants or novel viral species.
